Weekend Conference in Chicago
Posted by Dan at July 14th, 2013
Our family went to an I.C.A.N. (International Children’s Anophthalmia Anophthalmia Network) conference to learn more in caring for Calvin.
We were able to meet alot of great families, share each other’s family story, and learn some good information from the speakers at this event.
If you happen to be a family with a child that has bilateral anophthalmia or microphthalmia, then our family highly recommends going to one of their conferences. There were opportunities to meet with doctors, express feelings with those that know what you are going through, learn of new technologies for the blind, and find out about helpful resources for your family.
We were so enthused by this organization that my wife volunteered to be involved in the next conference, and she was nominated and now president of I.C.A.N. (International Children’s Anophthalmia Anophthalmia Network).
These are exciting times and we hope we can make a difference in our blind son’s life and other families too with knowing that we have a great support system and new friends.
